"It's a simple question did you invite him or not?" Daniel seemed slightly annoyed, which brought a small smile to your face.
"I kept an open invitation, love." You turned towards him, after you put in your last earring, a smile on your face. "But I'd be surprised if he did show up."
Daniel walked up towards you, and hugged you quickly. "I'm so happy I've got you, [Name]. Together, we'd be the most perfect couple in this town all my friends would be jealous of me, and all your friends would be jealous of you!" His laugh was soft, yet chilling, and you could vaguely feel your grip tightening on his shirt.
Kissing him on the cheek quickly, you pulled back.
"Let me finish getting dressed, Daniel," You said, softly.
"Mmm...I'd rather think about getting you undressed," Daniel's lips hovered near your ear, as he whispered softly, yet the low baritone of his voice sent shudders down your spine.
Teasingly, you pushed him away. "I don't want us to be late, Dan."
With a playful pout on his face, he made his way towards the door. "Don't be late for me, doll."
Your smile vanished, as soon as he closed the door. A doll? Was that all you were to him? A doll? A showpiece? All his affection towards you was, in the long run, just another way for him to glorify himself - Daniel could never look past anyone but himself, could he?
The last item of jewellery you wore was a ring it was a vintage beauty, something which you'd actually found in a vintage store. But what intrigued you most about it was the little compartment that the ring concealed. Oh, this was going to be dramatic, all right, but after all, this was a plan to discreetly poison your fiancé, wasn't it?
Your eyes widened slightly, as you saw Nikolai enter the grand hall. You couldn't move your gaze off him, though he was just dressed...so...differently - a black formal suit with a dark blue satin shirt. You'd never seen him dressed like that before...not that you were complaining.
Excusing yourself from the group mindlessly blabbering away around you, you made your way towards the dark figure looming near the door. Only to have a hand placed on your shoulder. Turning backwards, you saw Daniel, his mouth set in a firm line, and his emerald gaze steely towards the now-faintly-smirking Nikolai, near the entrance.
"Hold my drink, [Name], I'll be right back," and without another word, you were left standing in the middle of a hall with Daniel's drink in your hand.
Nikolai's smile grew even wider, as he realised that you had the most perfect opportunity right now, to slip in the poison. You realised it as well.
A myriad of thoughts passed through your mind, as you held the drink. If you did manage to poison Daniel, how would you get away with it? Actually, it probably wouldn't be too difficult: act as the grief-stricken, deranged fiancée, disappear from the face of the earth with grief, escape, go to another country, get a new identity and start a new life with Nikolai.
It wouldn't be so difficult.
But...would it be worth it? All of this, just to end up with Nikolai? Someone who you had broken up with so messily?
What do you do?
*Put the poison in the drink.
*Put the drink down.
