Canada x Reader x America - Good Things Don't Last Forever - Chapter 5

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

You knocked on Matthew's door somewhat timidly, shivering from getting drenched in the cold rain. Slightly nervous, you played out the chances of Alfred opening the door out in your mind.
There's a chance…of about 50%, if he does stay here. Maybe he stays somewhere else, you know. Maybe...yeah! Hopefully he-

The door opened and there stood Alfred, munching on something. He momentarily stopped chewing, and his face broke into a smile, as he recognised you.
"[Name]! Nice to see you!"
You smiled in return.
"Whatcha doing here?"
"I...erm..." You were at a loss for words. "I...well, I came to see Mattie."
"Mattie?"
"Matthew."
"..."
"Matthew Williams?"
"Oh, him! Why do you want to see him?" He leant on the door frame, the smirk still on his face. "Now, me, yeah, I could understand...how do you even know him?"
"We've been friends for quite a while, Alfred."
"Oh, damn. He never told me he had such hot friends. Wonder what else he's up to!" He laughed at his own joke, and you could feel your cheeks heating up. You took a gulp.
Alfred grinned, taking a quick glance at you from head to toe. "So...why're you here?"
"Do you really need to know?" You replied, as you wrapped your arms around yourself.
He shrugged. "Why not? It's just as much my house as his."
"Dude, can't I tell you inside, I'm freezing." You muttered.
"I can see that." He grinned.
You opened your mouth to say something, but were interrupted by someone else's voice from afar.

Matthew ambled down the stairs, about to open the door. The first thing he noticed was [Name], standing there, drenched from the rain. Her wet hair clung to her face, and her eyes were wide. Her top clung to her – accentuating just the right parts, and...

He shook his head, almost as if to get back to reality. It wouldn't have taken long anyway, though.

He felt some sort of strange feeling flare up within him, when he saw Alfred standing there, leaning on the door frame, and chatting away with [Name] as if they had been friends since forever!

"Oh, damn. He never told me he had such hot friends. Wonder what else he's up to! So...why're you here?"
"Do you really need to know?"
"Why not? It's just as much my house as his."
"Dude, can't I tell you inside? I'm freezing."
"I can see that."

Matthew opened his mouth before the conversation got on any further. "Al...Weren't you supposed to be...going somewhere?" Alfred turned around, still smiling, as he looked at the newcomer in the conversation. [Name]'s eyes followed his, and she seemed to smile, if only just slightly, at seeing Matthew.

"Me? Nah, I'm not going anywhere."

Alfred held the door open for you, as you entered; "You still didn't tell me why you're here, senorita" he chimed. You turned around, and raised an eyebrow.
"Senorita?"
He shrugged. "Just practicing my Spanish." You turned back around, rolling your eyes ever so slightly. Matthew tried his hardest not to smile when he saw that.
"Matthew ever so kindly offered me dinner." You replied curtly. Alfred's smile became even broader, if that's possible.
"Cool! So you're gonna be here for the rest of the evening?"
"I...guess so."
Matthew hastily interrupted. "Erm, [Name], I'm really sorry it isn't anything fancy or anything.  I really didn't have much time, or anything, so I was thinking...should we just get some Chinese home-delivered or something? Would that be okay?"
"Fine with me" you replied.
"Can't we go to McDonald's?" Alfred whined, much like a five-year old.
"No." Was Matthew's firm reply.

Suddenly, a whole tower of movies caught your eye. "Wow! Look at all those movies!" You exclaimed, rushing to it. Kneeling down in front of it, you traced a finger down the whole stack. "…Wow…" One movie, in particular, caught your attention, and you pulled it out, grinning.

"Let's watch the Sixth Sense!" you exclaimed. Alfred's eyes widened and Matthew just looked back at you, with almost a black face.
"I haven't watched it in ages! I can barely remember what happened!"
"Doesn't it have to so with...ghosts?" Alfred asked, slightly sceptically.
You shrugged. "Why? Are you scared?"
Alfred laughed nervously. "N-no!" Matthew took the DVD from your hands, and went to set everything up. You plopped down in the middle of the sofa, and Alfred almost immediately curled up to your right, while Matthew sat on your left.
"Sure you're not gonna be scared, Al?" Matthew asked quietly.
"Of course not!" he replied shakily. You looked at Matthew, who looked back at you, his face impassive, but his eyes smiling.
You couldn't help but smile.
This was going to be fun.
Short chapter is short, OTL. I have to go somewhere D:
Dun wanna gooo~

And why The Sixth Sense? Because it isn't even creepy, and it's the first name that came to mind.
